How the exam is structured
Electronics Works (trade code 070) is an NTC engineering trade. Your registration covers the subjects tabled above — English and Mathematics among the general education papers — plus the trade assessment: written theory on components, circuits and signal systems, and a practical exam in which you build, test and fault-find real circuits. Soldering quality and systematic fault-finding are marked skills.
Where the trade leads
- Repair economy: phones, TVs, decoders, amplifiers — repair benches earn daily income everywhere in Nigeria, and skilled hands are scarce.
- Power electronics: inverter and solar-system installation and repair is the fastest-growing niche; it pairs naturally with Electrical Installation.
- Installations: sound systems, CCTV and intercoms for homes, churches, halls and offices.
- Further study: ND Electrical/Electronic Engineering Technology, or university using the NTC as your O’level — see how admissions treat NABTEB.
Common questions
Electronics Works or Appliance Maintenance — which should I pick? Electronics Works goes deeper into circuits and signals; Appliance Maintenance (code 120) is broader across household equipment. If you want repair-bench or solar work, Electronics Works is the stronger base.
Can I self-study for it? Theory yes, but the practical rewards bench experience — external candidates should get workshop practice before the Nov/Dec sitting (registration guide).
What is a good grade? Credit passes are A1–C6 — the full scale is in the grading guide.
